(New Orleans, LA) -- Tropical Storm Claudette has formed over Louisiana.

The third named Atlantic storm of the season has made landfall near New Orleans. The National Hurricane Center says Claudette has maximum sustained winds of 45 miles-per-hour and is causing dangerous flooding along the central Gulf Coast.

Parts of Louisiana have already been drenched in over nine inches of rain. Claudette could bring up to 15 inches of rain in some areas, from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle.
