Alana Haim Stars In Paul Thomas Anderson's New Movie 'Licorice Pizza'

The first trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie Licorice Pizza has arrived, and it stars Alana Haim. The youngest HAIM sister plays Alana Kane in the coming-of-age film opposite Cooper Hoffman, who happens to be the son of Anderson's late collaborator Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Before this project, Haim's only acting experience was in the Documentary Now! TV series and Netflix Lonely Island short The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience; however, Anderson has directed a number of HAIM's music videos.

According to the film synopsis, “Licorice Pizza is the story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973. Written and Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film tracks the treacherous navigation of first love."

The trailer also features Tom Waits, Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, Benny Safdie, and Anderson’s wife Maya Rudolph. Licorice Pizza reportedly also includes Ben Stiller, John C. Reilly, and Christopher Walken, though their names don't appear in the trailer or the poster.

Licorice Pizza is slated for a limited release on November 26 and nationwide release on December 25. Watch the first trailer above.

HAIM released their Grammy-nominated third album Women in Music Pt. III, last year. Earlier this year they hinted that they were working on new music.
