Student shot outside Terry Parker HS Football Game

Friday (May 17th) around 9pm, shots rang out outside of the Ribault vs Terry Parker High School football game being held in Arlington. Between 1,000 and 1,500 people were attending the game when the shooting occurred.

A 16-year-old was shot and taken to UF Health with life-threatening injuries, but has now been upgraded to stable condition. His name and age was not released, but our partners at News4Jax were told he is a student at Raines High School.

Andre' Ellis of covers high school football games around the city of Jacksonville and was the first to report the shooting online.

According to News4Jax, Dr. Diana Greene, superintendent of Duval County Public Schools had this to say about the event:

"I want to convey my sympathy to the family, and our thoughts and prayers are right now focused on this young man and hoping that he will recover. Yes, it is frustrating because I care for each and every one of our students. And their safety is of vital importance to our school district,” Greene said.

No arrests or suspect announcements have been made.
