Edward Waters University Joins NCAA

Edward Waters University officially joined the NCAA on Thursday, celebrating the completion of its multi-year, long-awaited, transition from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. EWU athletic director Ivana Rich describes the feeling of "pure bliss" when the call was received. EWU president A. Zachary Faison Jr., recalls his feelings, "Today is just a phenomenal, phenomenal, phenomenal day.".

This transition now means that Edward Waters University is Jacksonville's only NCAA affiliated football program! And it's only the latest initiative for EWU - having completed the construction of the Nathaniel Glover Community Field and Stadium, the installation of a new orange and purple floor inside the Adams-Jenkins Complex, and the launch of sports including women's soccer and men's volleyball within the past five years - all leading to this.

Now as a NCAA member, EWU teams will now be eligible for NCAA Tournaments at a Division II level. Currently, the sports offered are: baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, football, women's golf, women's soccer, women's tennis, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's volleyball and cheerleading.
