Clearwater Ferry Crash Investigation Continues

CLEARWATER -- State Fish and Wildlife officers say the driver of a boat that crashed into a ferry Sunday evening is cooperating with investigators. No charges have been filed so far. Major Evan Laskowski with the State Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says they're working with prosecutors, to determine whether the crash was hit and run.

Officials say the driver of the boat submitted to a blood alcohol test and passed. A male passenger on the ferry boat was killed and ten others injured. Police say the crash occurred just outside a zone where boaters are required to observe no-wake speeds. They say video shows the boat riding up onto the ferry.

A man riding on the ferry lost his life. Ten other people suffered injuries, six of whom were transported as trauma alerts. Authorities say their injuries included broken bones, soft tissue injuries, and head injuries.
